Student budget: living on a small income without debt
AmanaFi team · Updated · 1 min read
On a limited income, a student budget rests on three rules: know the real sum for the month, pay housing and transport first, and keep a small margin for surprises.
Gather every source
Add up the grant, family help and small incomes. Note arrival dates too: if the grant comes late, plan for enough to last.
- Grant or regular help.
- Occasional family help.
- Small job or odd work.
Priorities in order
Housing, food, transport and study supplies first. Then phone, going out and treats in a fixed envelope you do not exceed.
Save without depriving yourself
Cook with others, buy second-hand books, compare prices, keep only strictly useful subscriptions. Even 100 DH set aside a month builds a small cushion for the new term.
Frequently asked
Should I borrow for my studies?
If possible, avoid interest-bearing loans, which Islam forbids. Prefer a grant, family help, an interest-free loan from relatives or a small job spread over the year.
