Planning a monthly sadaqah in your budget: how much and how

AmanaFi team · Updated · 1 min read

When sadaqah is a line in the budget, it stops depending on the mood of the moment. Set a percentage or an amount, schedule it on payday and adjust it to your situation.

Choose a sustainable amount

There is no imposed minimum. Many start with 1 to 2% of income, others prefer a fixed amount. The right figure is the one you can keep even in tight months.

Schedule and separate

Like savings, sadaqah is set aside first.

  • A "sadaqah" category in the budget.
  • A transfer or set-aside on payday.
  • A small account or pot for the month's gifts.

Keep it flexible

If one month is unusually hard, reduce instead of stopping, and catch up when possible. Sadaqah is also given in time and good deeds, which keeps the link even when money is short.

Frequently asked

Should I give sadaqah in one go or in small amounts?

Both are good. Small regular gifts are easier to keep, and a bigger occasional one can target a specific need.
