Summer holiday budget: going away without overspending
AmanaFi team · Updated · 1 min read
A successful holiday is prepared with a budget set in advance, saved over several months. Credit to travel turns a pleasure of a few weeks into instalments that last months.
Set the budget
Start with the amount you can devote, then adapt the project, not the other way round.
- Return transport and getting around locally.
- Accommodation.
- Meals and outings.
- Surprises: 10 to 15% of the total.
Save over several months
Divide the budget by the number of months before departure and transfer that sum into a "holiday" envelope. For 6,000 DH in six months, that is 1,000 DH a month. Fictional figures, to adapt.
Cut without spoiling
Travelling outside peak prices, booking early, staying with relatives or in shared rentals, cooking some meals and favouring free activities sharply reduce the bill. Avoid impulse spending on the spot by setting a daily budget.
Frequently asked
Should I give up holidays if the budget is tight?
No: a close, simple getaway beats a big trip on credit. Adapt the destination and length to your envelope.
